Harness Your Emotions to Change Your Actions
I heard it said once that logic leads to conclusions, and emotion leads to action.
Whether you’re fighting for something you believe in, running from a fear, comforting a child, drowning your pain in alcohol, or stopping to smell the roses, your emotions drive those actions.
If you can harness those emotions, light their fires, as Jeff Dewar says, taking action happens naturally. And taking positive action leads to change.
I’m sure you’ve experienced this: You tackle a big, huge, hairy project with enthusiasm because you’re excited about it and it means something to you. Meanwhile, a simple mundane chore that would take two minutes never gets done because you can’t seem to work up the motivation.
If you want different habits and actions, start by reframing your thoughts (new conclusions), which changes the way you feel.
Change your communication, change your life.
