What do you value?
You can tell what people value by the way they spend their time, energy, and money.
Working all the time and investing everything in business? You value work. Looking for fun experiences and spending money on things that taste and look good? You value pleasure. Spending your weekends working on your house or car and putting your money toward fixing them up? You value your stuff. Giving your family gifts and quality time and helping them out at every opportunity? You value family.
All of these things are good in moderation. Work is good. Pleasure is good. Having a place to live is good. Family is good. It’s all good. But what about YOU?
Last week, I said that the greatest resource you have is YOU. Do you value that resource? Do you invest in yourself, take care of yourself, nourish yourself?
Sometimes you can take care of yourself by working or experiencing pleasure or creating a home environment you love or being with family. Sometimes you take care of yourself by saying “no” to those things.
You are your own greatest resource. You are also your own greatest responsibility.
What’s your favorite way to take care of yourself?
